Weld Production Supervisor

BWXT is seeking qualified applicants to fill the role of Welding Production Supervisor at its facility in Mount Vernon, Indiana. The Weld Production Supervisor is responsible for providing direction for daily activities and clearly communicating expectations and assignments; establishing employee capabilities and providing training to improve skills as required; and implementing and managing departmental goals to assist in reaching company goals. Additionally, the Weld Production Supervisor will:

  • Work closely with engineering to develop/modify processes to exceed efficiency requirements and optimize welding productivity/performance.
  • Schedule department resources to meet established scheduling deadlines.
  • Clearly communicate job expectations and performance requirements to welders/floor personnel.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure personnel maintain the proper weld qualifications.
  • Hold employees accountable to the expectations provided, including quality of work, compliance to procedures, productivity, safe working practices, and Company rules.
  • Serve as a liaison between shop floor personnel and management.
  • Monitor employee attendance and input into SAP as required.
  • Enforce all safety, security and company policies.
  • Maintain time and production records.
  • Attend, participate in, and lead production and safety meetings.
  • Communicate pertinent and relevant issues to other supervision, engineers, and management.
  • Schedule overtime according to needs.
  • Ensure timely availability of required materials for the operations being performed.
  • Perform performance evaluations as required.
  • Perform monthly risk assessments of your area, identifying vulnerabilities and taking action.
  • Practice visible leadership on the floor, maximize your time spent on the floor providing technical and administrative oversight of work through observations and surveillance.
  • Answer employees questions and resolve problems in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years professional experience in a similar role (CWS preferred). Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in manual and/or automatic GTAW (TIG) welding, a working knowledge of heat treat, NDT, tooling and machining processes applicable to stainless steels and high nickel base alloys, and the ability to interpret welding symbols and technical drawings.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
