Hazard Monitoring Systems Tech

Job Summary
This job is primarily responsible for traveling to various company locations to perform inspection and maintenance for the Hazard Monitoring Systems (HSM) at each location. Job duties performed include significant travel and working outside of normal working hours.

Actual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs and type of facility.
Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attends daily pre-shift meetings.
Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable); including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed and documenting THA when needed.
Perform annual hazard monitoring system inspection, document on applicable form and post in appropriate system.
Work with location management to prepare and coordinate travel schedule and location inspection plan to assure every location is inspected at a minimum of once per year.
Train or assist with training location management to increase understanding of their location HMS.
Work with locations to diagnose problem with HMS malfunctions; in person or via phone.
Develop relationships with HMS manufacturers to stay up to date of new products and share information to management.
Maintain data and/or pull reports in applicable system as needed/requested (i.e. sensor replacement history).
Coordinate purchase of system replacement parts and tools with location management.
Stay abreast of industry standards, research needed information, and interpret to ensure regulatory compliance.
Participate in site upgrades and projects; may include gathering quotes and inspecting contractor installation.
Other duties as assigned; such as attending continuing education, perform minor installation of HM equipment and planning of installations, and cross training and assisting in various job functions as needed.

Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience.

Experience
Required -- None.
Preferred - Previous experience in mechanical maintenance and electrical experience.

License/Certification
Required - Valid driver's license and ability to meet company auto insurance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced level of understanding of mechanical maintenance, knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
Basic mathematical skills (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and understand measurements.
Ability to follow direction and to use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and recommend alternative solutions to mechanical problems, and to coordinate services at various locations.
Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.

Physical Demands & Requirements
Ability to lift/push/pull 40 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and balance.
Ability to climb ladders and perform work at significant heights.
Arm/hand steadiness and multi-limb coordination.
Ability to safely walk on barge surface(s) and on top of railcars.
Ability to work in confined spaces and around deep water.
Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work in an environment with high dust levels around grain and other bulk products.
Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio.
Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.
Ability to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed.

Uses near, far and peripheral vision and depth perception for task(s) being performed.

Environmental Conditions
The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.
Exposure to such conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or skin.
40% or more through the week, includes being home most weekends.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
